Therapy for Survivors of Sexual Abuse & Trauma in Colorado, DC, & Virginia

A space to reclaim what was lost to trauma and live your life fully.

You've experienced something that you never asked to experience. This trauma has impacted your relationship to yourself, your body, and to others. You feel alone and are overwhelmed with pain, shame, anxiety, and a mix of emotions. Thinking about starting therapy for this can feel too big or too scary. Maybe these questions pass through your mind:

  • Will my therapist believe me?

  • What if I don't remember everything or anything at all?

  • What if there's too much and this never ends?

  • What if I'm scared of unpacking this?

  • How do I heal from something that's impacted me in so many ways?

If these experiences and questions resonate with you, I'm glad you're here.

Work With Me

Picture of Alex sitting in a white sweater in front of a plant.

Hi, I’m Alex, a therapist and breathwork facilitator based on Arapaho and Lipan Apache lands (Denver, CO). I work in person in Denver and virtually with clients in Colorado, Virginia, and DC. I also serve as a part-time group facilitator for Wings, supporting adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

In my practice, I help adults overcome struggling with vulnerability and connection in order to help them have more meaningful and safer relationships with themselves and others. Trauma often leaves people feeling shame about how they’ve survived or who they are. Together, we’ll explore the ways you’ve adapted, understand how they serve you now, and foster deeper self-compassion, acceptance, and connection.

Healing from this type of trauma requires more than talking. That's why I use trauma-informed approaches that focus on working with the body and mind. These modalities include sensorimotor, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and breathwork, to support clients in achieving their goals.

If you’re interested in therapy or breathwork, I invite you to reach out for a consultation.

1

Sexual Abuse & Trauma

Whether you experienced this trauma throughout your life or one time, you're welcome here. You don't need to prove to me that you've experienced harm to get help from the impacts of sexual abuse and trauma.

2

Trauma & PTSD

If you've experienced any type of trauma, neglect, or abuse, I invite you to reach out to see how you can heal from the impacts together and build the life you want to live.

3

Grief

Whether it's anticipatory, abstract, collective, or the normal grief, we'll work together to find meaning and build the tools to process and feel the grief. You don't have to be alone or overwhelmed in your grief, I'm here to be along side you.

Approaches

1 / Somatic Therapy

Together, we begin to learn what your body is communicating and connect it to your thoughts, beliefs, and how you show up in your relationships. Your body has so much wisdom, we just need to build the language and skills to connect and understand it.

2 / Internal Family Systems (IFS)

We are complex and curious beings. Parts work helps us understand how parts of ourselves may protects us or sometimes, get in the way of living authentically. Let's compassionately explore all the parts of you to understand you better.

3 / Breathwork

Breathwork can be a powerful, somatic modality to work with our inner world. Let's explore how breathwork can support your healing.

01.

Schedule a free 25-min zoom consultation with me. On the call, we'll talk about what you're looking to get out of therapy, how I can help, and any questions you may have.

02.

If we decide we're a good fit, we'll schedule your first session! During your first session, we'll get clearer about your goals and begin to build our relationship.

03.

Depending on your needs and our availability, we'll begin to either work on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I'm excited to work with you!
